The Stone Temple Pilots showed at this concert that they are not some washed-up band from the 90’s embarking on a reunion tour for some extra cash. They are still rocking as hard as ever and delivering new songs that sound as if could have been released during the band’s heyday.
Lead singer Scott Weiland has had his share of problems with both drugs and his band mates in the past. However, he is still one of the most charismatic frontmen in all of rock when he has his act together. He certainly had his act together at this show. Weiland kept the crowd engaged with his larger than life stage presence still strong voice.
The band moved seamlessly between their biggest hits and a few choices from their latest self-titled album. While newer songs such as “Between the Lines” certainly did not bog down the concert, they were not what the fans came out to hear. The band was all too happy to oblige the crowd by playing many of its biggest hits from its earliest albums.
The Stone Temple Pilots put on a great show that gave almost all of its fans something to be happy about.
I went to the Stone Temple Pilots show in Austin, texas last night. They were on a mission to rock hard and fast. The band was tight and right on target. The crowd was totally into the show too. The ACL Moody Theatre is a great venue.
Also, the opening band from Los Angeles, "Jetstream," rocked the house too. Check them out. You will not be disappointed!
