Tommy Lee's MIND-BLOWINGLY AWESOMELY SICK Drum Solo
My son and I attended last night's Motley Crue/Poison show last night in Dallas. I had never seen Poison live before. They were amazing and sound just as good as ever. Bret's voice was in fine form and CC's axe-playing was incredible. The other two guys - Rikki & Bobby - were good, too.
I have seen Motley Crue before. It was the anniversary tour for Dr. Feelgood a couple of years ago. They were good on that tour, and it lived up to the concert videos I had watched before. Last night's show, however, mind-blowingly freaking awesome! Vince was hitting notes I had not heard him hit in a long time. He looked trim and great. Of course, Nikki Sixx is always so cool and his bass thundered throughout their set. Mick Mars was looking really good last night and pacing the stage like caged lion. It was nice to him look more like his old self. Of course, his playing definitely has not suffered in the least. His virtuoso chops always blow my mind. Undoubtedly, though, the star of the night just had to be Tommy Lee. Mind you, I am kind of ambivalent about Tommy, but he blew my mind last night! His drum kit was set up on a super loop rollercoaster contraption for his drum solo. I don't think the audience realized what he was doing at first...LOL! Leave it to Tommy to pull a stunt like that! At one point, he and his kit were completely upside down and he was still rocking. All in all, it was much better than the show I saw a couple of years ago. You definitely have to go see them!
