Petco Park might be the most beautiful park in the entire Major Leagues. Despite its youth, it combines that elegant feel of the Gaslamp District with the good ole 1984 Jack Murphy Stadium-type happiness that exudes Padres baseball. With the best record in the National League, the Padres have transformed themselves into being the elite of the league. Credit the ballpark which only gives up home runs to the most elite hitters. Luckily for the Friars, they own one of them in San Diego native Adrian Gonzalez. Pitching and defense wins games and those are two characteristics that mark this new Padres regime. So now the team matches the ballpark they play in--old school with a hint of young blood.
