It had been awhile since I had been to Stubb's. I quickly remembered how much I enjoyed the venue and how much I took it for granted. Here are a few reasons why. It's centrally located downtown and reasonably close to almost every part of Austin. While it's nestled near a police station and a gas station, there truly is some sort of transformation as you walk in the back yard and experience the beautiful trees and lights, whether at sunset or in the evening. The venue is the perfect size, with general admission standing room only, you can wander the grounds to catch a few different views, and people are usually kind enough to let you slip in up front for a second to snap a great pick. The BBQ is just as legendary as the music. You can show up early and enjoy a seated dinner in the dining room, or grab some sandwiches or wraps during a show. (Don't forget about Gospel Brunch on Sundays!) They offer beer as well as liquor during shows - a big plus if you have a group that's a little picky about their drinks. Can't think of much else I'd want to watch a great show in the live music capital of the world!
