The Cotton Bowl is one of the legendary football venues in all of college football. It was built in the Fairpark area of South Dallas over 80 years ago. And although it only holds a few football games these days, it is still a fantastic place to see a game.
Pros: * Situated in the middle of the State Fair of Texas, which adds a unique atmosphere to the pregame and postgame. Fletchers corn dogs, fried oreos, carnival games and beer in wax paper cups are all unique experiences you only get at the Cotton Bowl. * The stadium has been renovated since 2008 so that it now provides much better concession stands, cleaner restrooms and great replay screens. * The Cotton Bowl has great sight lines. It is a bowl stadium so you truly feel like part of the action from everywhere on the lower level. Few modern stadiums can compete with the Cotton Bowl in this area.
Cons: * There isn't much parking at the Cotton Bowl, so you will likely have to park at a pay lot in the surrounding neighborhood.
One of the marquee matchups year-in and year-out in ALL of College Football! It has to be the best atmoshpere, because it is played at a Neutral Site (Cotton Bowl - Dallas, TX) which is halfway between the University of Texas campus in Austin, TX and the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. It occurs during the State Fair of Texas, which only adds to the electric atmoshpere. There is good food, cold beer, tons of rides/attractions, and ESPN's College Gameday is almost certain to be onsite every year, as this game usually decides the Big12 and maybe whoe represents the conference in the National Championship Game. The stadium is split 50/50, with not an empty seat in sight! Don't miss out on this tradition rich game, because if you do, you might just miss out on a piece of College Football History!
